Instagram profiles that make me feel better

Is social media draining you too?

I don’t spend much time on Instagram as a consumer. Most of the time, it makes me anxious—it’s too easy to fall into the comparison trap, and I really don’t like that.

But do you also have profiles on Instagram that you genuinely look forward to seeing?

I do. A few, actually! I thought I’d share them with you. This isn’t a list of “the best” accounts—it’s simply a warm selection from my feed that makes me feel good.

Here’s my list:

People I’ve Loved
An artist and online shop that gives a lot of love and warmth. Their posts remind me that it’s okay to just be human.

Alessandra Olanow
An illustrator and author, and one of the first artists I found combining illustration and writing to promote well-being.

Amber Vittoria
An artist, poet, and author. I love her use of color and the honesty in her work.

Olivia de Recat
A writer and illustrator whose humor and creativity always make me smile.

Viktorija Illustrations
An illustrator and warm-hearted person I met at the Bergen Art Book Fair. Her use of color and playfulness always moves me.

Femme ter Haar
Another illustrator I met at the Bergen Art Book Fair. Her humor and perspective on the world are delightful.

Marina Vidić Klobučar (in Croatian)
Working with neuro-linguistic psychotherapy, her posts help us better understand ourselves.

Daily Stoic
Ancient wisdom for modern life.

The School of Life
The name says it all. :)

A Thought on Who We Follow

I’ve probably forgotten some amazing people and profiles, but I’ll keep an eye out in the future for those that genuinely interest me—rather than just accepting what’s put in front of me.

Tip for Navigating Social Media

On that note, here’s a tip for fellow social media newbies like me who don’t follow the latest trends and updates: I recently discovered you can add people you follow to your favorites. This makes it easier to connect with the profiles that inspire you, without feeling drained by endless scrolling. Unfollowing accounts is always an option too, but it can be time-consuming—favoriting is a quicker, lighter way to curate your feed.

A Tool, Not a Trap

Navigating social media can feel overwhelming. We’re bombarded with so much information designed to be liked, but often, it doesn’t reflect real life. I spent a long time disliking and being in conflict with social media. Eventually, I realized it’s just a tool—how we use it is up to us.

Maybe social media will never offer the kind of deep connection we find in real life, but it’s still a space to discover people and ideas that inspire us. For deeper connections, I recommend checking out the websites and newsletters of those whose work you admire—and better yet, step offline to meet people in person!

Thank You

To everyone listed above: thank you for making my days better in so many ways. And thank you to everyone reading this—I hope this post inspires you to explore, reflect, and connect in your own way.
